Notice from St. Rose Regarding
Father
Thomas Euteneuer
Event:
Father Thomas Euteneuer will not be coming to St. Rose on September 8. He
was called back to his diocese in a hurry by his bishop
and will not be able to attend. People who bought
tickets for this event can contact the St. Rose office
for a full refund.
Catholic Charities needs volunteers. We are in need of individuals and families to adopt families who
have been affected by the flood during the weekend of
May 1 and 2. Even though months have passed, we still
need people willing to lend a hand as people begin to
rebuild their homes and their lives. The needs are
varied from procuring needed household necessities and furniture to offering
assistance filling out necessary documentation. If
people would like to help, they can contact the Flood
Hotline at (615)760-1027.
Catholic Charities of TN, Inc. requests your support by
designating us on your United Way pledge card in the
upcoming contribution campaigns. The designation numbers are # 572 for Catholic Charities and
#7101 for Loaves and Fishes Community Meals for the
Hungry. We depend heavily on United Way grants to reach
out to the needy in our community. Please help us help

Catholic Charities has opened a Flood Relief
Distribution Center at 7632 Highway 70 S., on the outer loop of the Bellevue
Mall. The center is able to receive donations of
furniture, household items (such as lamps, linens, and
electronics), kitchen items (such as pots, dishes, and
utensils), personal hygiene items, cleaning supplies,
and non-perishable food items. Hours of operation: 11
a.m.-6 p.m., Wednesday, Thursday, Friday; 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Saturday; 12-4 p.m.
Sunday.
Fifty Forward Flood Recovery Assistance.
Fifty Forward, a nonprofit Midstate agency that assists older adults,
is offering flood recovery care management for those age
60 and older who were affected by the May flood. The
agency, which has a center in Bellevue, will assist with
FEMA and SBA applications, appeals, ongoing
documentation, and other issues. Contact Stephany

Cars
For Help,
a 501(c)3 not-for-profit charity, is working through
Catholic Charities to help those in need with a program
that allows for a tax deduction of at least $500 from
the donation of a vehicle, in any condition, that you
own. The program makes arrangements for towing and
processing, and donors are free of cost and liability.

2010
Flood Relief Tax Refund.
New
legislation passed by the General Assembly provides
Tennessee sales tax relief for qualified individuals
affected by the recent severe storms and flooding who
must replace damaged or destroyed items. Eligible items
include major appliances and residential furniture used
in the individual’s primary residence with a purchase
price of $3,200 or less per item and building supplies
used for restoration of the individual’s primary
residence with a purchase price of $500 or less per
item. Individuals receiving disaster assistance from
FEMA as a result of the severe storms and flooding that
occurred in Tennessee between May 1-8, 2010 may request
a refund of
Tennessee
sales tax paid on eligible items purchased between May 1
and September 30, 2010. Qualified individuals must
submit their receipts of sales taxes paid on eligible
items and may file only one claim for refund. The
maximum amount of refund available to any one residence
is $2,500. The last day to file a claim with the
Department of Revenue is
November 30, 2010. Items that are eligible for refund must be purchased
directly by the individual receiving FEMA assistance.
Items purchased by a contractor making repairs to the
individual’s home are not eligible for refund.

verifying the assistance they received from FEMA. For

The
Long At-Home Retreat,
St. Henry Church, 6401
Harding Pike, Nashville. (The retreat begins on
September 17, 2010 and concludes on Friday, May 20,
2011). There are two ways this retreat can be made:
Completely privately, just between you and God, or by
coming together on Fridays with Rev. Steve Wolf,
Associate Pastor at St. Henry Church, to share the gifts
of the week. The optional weekly retreat meetings begin
with an orientation led by Fr. Steve on September 17 and
are on Fridays from Noon - 1 p.m. in the Parish Center
Meeting Room. The meetings continue through the fourth
week of Easter (every other week during Why Catholic).
Pick up the first set of retreat materials after Masses
at St. Henry on September 11 and 12, at the optional

Retreatants make a commitment to pray privately each day

2010 Advent Retreat
(Dec. 3-5), from 6 p.m. Friday to 11 a.m. Sunday,
St. Mary’s Sewanee Retreat Center, Monteagle,TN. Father
Dexter Brewer will be the presenter. The theme of the
retreat is “Waiting for the Lord.” The retreat will
explore six passages in Scripture in which people are

Visitation Clinic Needs Your Help for Earthquake Relief.
Visitation Clinic anticipates treating patients from
cities between Port-au-Prince and Petite Riviere de
Nippes in southwest Haiti. We are gearing up to receive
more patients, especially as the exodus from

in neighboring cities have been injured and need our

Catholic Charities Refugee Services 2010-11 Winter Coat
Drive (The drive starts Aug. 30 and will run until Jan.
31, 2011).
Coats can be dropped off at 10 S. 6th Street, Nashville.
If a Nashville area donor can gather 50 or more coats,
we will schedule a pickup. Parishes can establish a coat
area within their building and coordinate to arrange
pickups as needed.
This drive will support newly arriving refugee clients
with warm winter coats. The coats can be any size,
style, color, or for any gender or age. We request that
all coats be clean, all buttons be present, and that all
zippers are in good working order. Please place coats in
sturdy plastic trash bags. Gloves, mittens, hats, and
scarves are needed as well. This year we anticipate

Camp Marymount Catholic Camp will host the Marymount
Open Scholarship Scramble (MOSS,

families can afford to send children to camp is with
scholarship funds raised through the MOSS tournament.

retreat is “Waiting for the Lord.” The retreat will
explore six passages in Scripture in which people are
