Bishop David Choby celebrated the Mass for the Dedication of Sagrado Corazón Church at the Catholic Pastoral Center in Nashville on Wednesday, July 27. The 3,300-seat worship space is part of the 220,000-square-foot facility that the Diocese of Nashville purchased in 2014. In 2015, Sagrado Corazón, the Hispanic Ministry Center for the diocese, Catholic Charities of Tennessee, the Chancery and other diocesan offices moved into the facility located on McGavock Pike across Briley Parkway from the Opryland Hotel. About 1,200 people attended the Mass, which was celebrated in Spanish. Bishop Choby noted that throughout its history, the diocese has welcomed successive waves of newcomers to the country. He expressed to the community his joy at dedicating a facility that will meet the needs of the latest wave of immigrants coming to Tennessee.
