Saint Ann Catholic Church seeks qualified candidates for a part-time Accountant, 15-18 hours per week, who oversees the financial functioning of the parish for both the church and school on a day to day and ongoing basis in conjunction with the Pastor, Principal and Parish Coordinator. This position is generally on duty Monday through Friday during regular daytime business hours with the occasional evening or weekend.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reporting to Pastor as church and school Accountant; to Principal as school Accountant
  • Communicating with Pastor (church and school) and Principal (school) financial information, including presentation of bank statements
  • Communicating with Parish Coordinator regarding AP, tuition and other related matters; provide back-up to Parish Coordinator
  • Maintaining finance matters in church and school
  • Processing monthly reconciliation
  • Processing payroll
  • Creating budget for church and school
  • Negotiating contracts for annual work; renegotiate rates of ongoing monthly expenses
  • Overseeing and negotiating equipment maintenance contracts
  • Assisting Pastor and Principal in determining tuition rates for the year
  • Preparing reports for parish Finance Council Chair and Finance Council
  • Developing office record-keeping systems
  • Maintaining petty cash funds
  • Perform financial analysis of campus projects
  • Property management services

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting; CPA preferred
  • At least 7 years of Accounting experience
  • Prior experience working in a parish/diocese, government, or non-profit helpful
  • Prior payroll processing experience

OTHER SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • General knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and fund accounting, including internal controls
  • Knowledge of Diocesan norms helpful
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with pastor, staff, volunteers, and parishioners
  • Self-motivated, trustworthy steward of parish resources
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and organize with ability to manage details and files related to all aspects of parish finance
  • Ability to perform accurate, detailed work in an organized and timely fashion
  • Proficiency in the use of computers including internet, email and Microsoft Office products
  • Prefer candidate with experience using Parish Data Systems
  • Successful completion of parish Safe Environment program
