General Description:
The Content Specialist writes and designs informational and promotional materials that further the mission of Aquinas College, both for internal and external constituencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- The Content Specialist must be consistent at all times, in example and expression, with the tenets and morals of the Roman Catholic faith as articulated by the magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church. The Content Specialist must witness by her/his public behavior, actions, and words a life consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church and supportive of the mission of Aquinas College.
- The Content Specialist works with the President and the Advancement Assistant, as well as other College personnel, to coordinate and integrate content developed for the web, print, communication initiatives and public relations.
- The Content Specialist writes high quality articles for newsletters, the Aquinas magazine, press releases, and other publications.
- The Content Specialist oversees the publication of Aquinas Magazine annually.
- The Content Specialist creates visual text and imagery concepts, developing the overall layout and production design for advertisements, brochures, the Aquinas magazine, and various reports.
- The Content Specialist updates content on the Aquinas website as needed.
- The Content Specialist performs other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Director of Advancement.
Qualifications:
The individual fulfilling this position would need to have strong positive communication skills, especially in the area of writing. He or she would need to be able to work independently and possess personal initiative and a strong work ethic. He or she should have experience with graphic design, and in particular Adobe applications. Familiarity with MailChimp and WordPress would be helpful, although not necessary. This position would work closely with and be under the direct supervision of Director of Advancement. If desired, this position could be available as an internship.
Commitment:
Hours are flexible, based on the needs of the College. Some hours may be remote. The anticipated time commitment is 10-15 hours/week, with the possibility of a few weeks being more than this.
