Job Summary: The Director of Music and Liturgy is a professional who is rooted in an understanding and appreciation of the Roman Catholic faith and its Liturgy. The Director is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of music within the many parish celebrations and events. The Director's main objective for this full-time position is to ensure excellence of liturgy and sacraments is experienced by all. The Director knows and values the mission of the Church to evangelize all peoples. 

Responsibilities and Tasks: 

  • Recruits, rehearses, and directs adult choir and encourages development of other choirs 
  • Primary accompanist for weekend Masses and special liturgies 
  • Partners with pastor and Worship Committee to support the needs of our liturgical celebrations 
  • Demonstrates outstanding leadership, quality of work and collaboration with pastor, clergy, staff, and worship team/volunteers to achieve standards of excellence 
  • Plans all music and prepares worship aids as needed 
  • Develops and implements strategies for continuously improving congregational participation in the liturgy 
  • Participates in staff and worship meetings 
  • Maintains working knowledge of conciliar and post-conciliar Church documents 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in music/music education with a choral emphasis, liturgy, liturgical music or similar field 
  • At least two years’ experience in parish music and/or liturgical ministry
