High School Youth Ministry Lead

Reports to Director of Youth Ministry

Classification:  Salaried, full time

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Organize weekly HFAM Youth Nights (Sunday night)
  • Organize yearly retreats, including but not limited to Fall Retreat, Holy Week Retreat, Lock-ins, Ski Retreats, and other retreats that may arise from time to time.
  • Organize, promote, and attend the summer mission trip
  • Help engage our adult volunteers, recruit new adult volunteers as needed, and help foster a community among them
  • Organize and send out weekly e-mails and social media posts to high schoolers and parents to keep them informed
  • Meet weekly with the Director of Youth Ministry to discuss plans of outreach, goals of the program, and ways we can meet our students where they are
  • Communicate information to the Director of Youth Ministry that needs to be included in parish e-mails, bulletin, and cantor announcements
  • Work through a rotating schedule of Mass times: be present at either 8:30am, 11 am, or 5:30pm Mass on Sundays (excluding Christmas and Easter)
  • Be a Youth Ministry team player willing to coordinate and share ideas with IGNITE Lead and be a core team member when time permits with the IGNITE group (i.e., attending IGNITE retreat/other big events they have)
  • Help facilitate and attend Wednesday night Youth Ministry activities
  • Attend SEARCH and Youth Leadership Workshop functions as an adult helper and other events throughout the Diocese to further extend our outreach
  • Work offsite, including but not limited to, attending school functions (plays, sports games, etc.)
  • Help build a leadership team of upperclassmen in the HFAM Youth Group
  • Assist with planning and executing fundraisers for the Youth Ministry Program
  • Plan and attend service opportunities with HFAM Youth
  • Other duties as prescribed

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Be organized, collaborative, and possess a strong desire to work with high schoolers
  • Ability to work on a team
  • Strong time management skills
  • Experience working with high school youth programs in a Catholic setting.
  • Bachelor degree preferred
