Description

Catholic Charities of Tennessee seeks qualified candidates for the position of Human Resources Manager. This is a regular full-time position providing oversight for the human resources functions including the onboarding process, administering pay, benefits, enforcing policies and practices, investigating concerns and overseeing disciplinary actions. The HR Manager plays a special role in staffing the Tennessee Serves Neighbors department, with a dotted-line relationship to the County Program Expansion Director.

Catholic Charities of Tennessee is located at the Catholic Pastoral Center in the Donelson neighborhood of Nashville. This position is generally on duty Monday through Friday during the regular daytime business hours of the Catholic Pastoral Center. This position may require travel throughout Middle Tennessee and occasional attendance at evening meetings.

Responsibilities
  • Partners with the leadership team to execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy, particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning, with focus on building the Tennessee Serves Neighbors program staff.
  • Manages the talent acquisition process, including recruitment, classification and compensation, interviewing, hiring of qualified job applicants, onboarding; collaborates with program managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Assists Operations Director to develop and implement comprehensive employee orientation.
  • Provides support and guidance to management and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Works with individual employees on benefits and employment questions and resolves any issues.
  • Serves as agency representative for the Diocesan Employee Benefits, Lay Retirement, and Mission Integration committees and related Diocesan-wide personnel activities.
  • Ensures accurate payroll and benefits/insurance records, reports, and documentation are maintained, and that associated deadlines are met, working closely with Financial Services.
  • Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
  • Creates learning and development initiatives to provide growth opportunities for employees.
  • Oversees performance appraisal process, disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance, with particular attention to funders’ requirements, to ensure adherence to overall agency payroll budget.
  • Collaborates with the Diocese of Nashville senior human resources official, as it relates to benefits, policies, and best practices, including Safe Environment training and compliance.
  • Serves as agency coordinator for Title IV compliance, providing training, formulating an implementation plan, and submitting annual compliance reports to State of Tennessee.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2 years (minimum) of related experience required.
  • Professional certification of PHR or SHRM-CP (or equivalent)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with government contract reporting and compliance
  • Bilingual Spanish and English preferred
