Description

The Church Receptionist is a full-time position that provides support services. This person is responsible for providing a friendly and welcoming environment while maintaining a professional and caring atmosphere.

This position is responsible for the following

  • Greets all visitors and monitors the front reception area.
  • Answers telephones, routes and screens calls. General phone maintenance; compile phone directory for church and school staff.
  • Collect and distribute mail. Help coordinate supply deliveries, including with the school.
  • Performing a variety of clerical tasks, which includes supporting other ministries.
  • Incorporate new registrations into the main database. Coordinate with communications manager on new member welcome packets and email directory inclusion. Coordinate with the business office on visitor and transitory contributors as they affect the database. Regularly update registration records status based on external communications, sacramental reports, OSV updates, business office reports. Conduct annual census to ensure database accuracy in conjunction with the business office.
  • Assists in maintaining building security by ensuring that visitors are known and/or expected prior to allowing them to enter the secure section of the building. Monitor security cameras of church and school campus; coordinate with security personnel as appropriate; monitor and operate portico door entry.
  • Regular work attendance.  This position requires having the Lobby ready and open at 08:30am promptly. Flexibility, on occasion, to slightly alter hours of work to support large events or other needs. Office hours are 8:30am – 4:00pm, Monday – Friday.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must be able to present a professional office with great customer service skills.
  • Ability to  work cooperatively with other employees and the public.
  • Ability to display discretion and integrity in the performance of duties.
  • Ability to attain CPR and First Aid Certification as required.
  • Must be able to regularly lift at least 25 pounds.
  • Team player willing to roll up sleeves and do what it takes to get the job done.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. Publisher, InDesign and Microsoft Excel familiarity.
  • Understanding, respect, and support for Catholic Church teaching, mission, and values.
