Our History

The Hand in Hand program began in 2004 at Pope John Paul II High School. Because of one mother’s dream and perseverance to have her daughter educated among her peers in a Catholic setting, this cutting edge, inclusive program was born. Hand in Hand Options programs have since expanded to include three K-8 schools within the Diocese of Nashville and continues to serve as a model for inclusive Catholic education nationwide. Additionally, Hand in Hand Options, Inc. has expanded its mission to include all students with learning needs.

Hand in Hand Options, Inc. is an independent 501(c)3 formed in 2020. Our goal is to provide an exceptional faith-based education in all Catholic schools with highly trained educators. All children should have accessibility to a nurturing and fully inclusive culture that celebrates the God given dignity of all, fostering life-long success. Students within the Diocese will gain understanding, appreciation, and joy of all people. Through donations and fundraising, HIHO is able to provide professional learning opportunities, classroom materials and technology, and classroom support. An inclusive Catholic education is similar to a rock being thrown into water. The ripple effect of an inclusive Catholic education provides opportunities for ALL students to grow intellectually, spiritually, and morally. The effects reach our student bodies, families, churches and greater communities. It is with your support that this and much more is possible.
