Description
Holy Rosary Academy is seeking a full-time or part-time Elementary Art Teacher. We seek an energetic, positive teacher who can bring beauty and goodness to our students through Art.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The duties listed below are typically performed by an employee in this classification. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and activities required of the position,
and other duties may be assigned as needed by the principal.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that meet curriculum standards.
- Teach students the fundamentals of drawing, painting, sculpture, and other art forms.
- Assess and evaluate students' progress through projects and assignments.
- Provide constructive feedback to help students improve their artistic skills.
- Create a positive, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Plan, develop, and implement art and art history curricula.
- Maintain art materials.
- Deliver lectures on art, art techniques, art history, and aesthetics.
- Give drawing and painting demonstrations to students.
- Cross-curricular projects are encouraged
- Mixed media throughout the curriculum
- Develop unique God given talents in our students
- Teach structure and form, color and texture to bring meaning to work
- Coordinate annual Art show and assist with themed Fine Arts Day.
- Implement appropriate class management skills for all grades, PreK-8.
- Attend appropriate meetings
- Develop relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
Qualifications
- Elementary Art Teaching License preferred
- Degree required
- Must have or be open to begin working toward TN teaching license in content area
- Practicing Catholic preferred
- Must have a positive mindset toward child learning and development while being flexible and adaptive in potentially stressful situations.
- Works effectively and collegially with others.
- Ability to work without supervision, make common sense decisions, and use good judgment.
- Ability to take direction from the administration and keep them appropriately informed.
- Maintains appropriate conduct in the classroom and throughout the campus.
- Uses good people skills and behavior that is professional, collegial, respectful and maintains a positive environment while treating all people as you would want to be treated.
- Keep information confidential and conduct all activities with integrity and honesty.
- To be present, ready to work, and on time for all scheduled hours.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and positive environment.
- Participate in extra-curricular activities in school as appropriate
- Be an example of a JOY (Jesus – Others – You) filled person.
