Description

The Diocese of Nashville seeks qualified candidates for the seasonal position of Totus Tuus Missionary ( May 29 - July 24, 2026 ) This position entails travelling  with other missionaries to different parishes around the Diocese of Nashville to teach the Totus Tuus program. Meals and housing are provided. The position begins with training, and includes time off for the July 4th holiday, and a 1 -  day retreat.

Totus Tuus is a nationally implemented summer catechetical program for children and teens that originated in the Diocese of Wichita. Its structure of learning, fun, and time with the sacraments encourages participants to seek true holiness and live their lives for Christ. The missionaries’ dedication, enthusiasm, and witness to the faith are key to the goal of sharing the Gospel. This position will receive a stipend.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Interacts with all in a Christ-like manner.
  • Attends mandatory training.
  • Prepares and executes lesson plans.
  • Maintains program and adheres to required prayer commitments.
  • Assists team members in maintaining the daily schedule, including, but not limited to: leading songs at daily Mass, performing skits, preparing children for Mass, setting up and cleaning up spaces.
  • Appropriately monitors participants and reports matters to team leader or Diocese of Nashville Totus Tuus Coordinator, as needed.
  • Respectfully collaborates with host parish personnel and host families.
  • Exemplifies a missionary spirit of  joy, humility, gratitude, and adaptability.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Candidates must be 18 years old

Other skills/Requirements

  • A practicing Catholic in good standing
  • Familiarity with the Totus Tuus program preferred, but not essential.
  • Experience working or volunteering with elementary age students preferred.
  • Enjoys working with and interacting with children and teens.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Understanding, respect, and support for Catholic Church’s teachings and values.
  • Experience in a religious education or ministry setting is preferred.
