Description

The role of the Kindergarten Teacher is to help nurture a Catholic, loving and safe environment in the classroom and lead academic and social activities, ensuring compliance with program requirements and fostering individual growth.

Essential Functions

• Ensure the Catholic faith is at the forefront of all teachings.

• Implement lesson plans according to weekly/monthly themes, curriculum and Diocesan guidelines.

• Instruct children in assigned subjects and adjust instructional level to meet individual student needs.

• Contribute to the nurturing and advancement of the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of the students.

• Create a vibrant, happy, safe classroom in which students can excel.

• Work together with parents to assist them in their role as primary educators of their children.

• Consistently communicate with and/or meet with parents regarding student progress in school.

• Make appropriate reports to the principal and parents concerning the educational growth and development of students.

• Utilize school-wide tracking and tech systems to collect, enter, and analyze students’ academic and behavioral data daily.

• Effectively use technology to enhance student learning.

• Attends required development/training courses as laid out by the Department of Education. Lead teachers and educational assistants are required to complete 30 hours of professional development annually.

• Respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.

School-Based Duties and Faculty Engagement

• Enforce, uphold, and exhibit school’s values, student management policies, and culture systems.

• Participate in school events that occur outside of normal school hours, such as parent-teacher conferences, field trips, SSP meetings and open-house.

• Engage in ongoing Professional Development.

• Attend weekly faculty/staff meetings after school on Wednesdays from 3:00-4:00 p.m.

• Collaborate with grade level teams and specialists.

• Participate in curriculum planning meetings and professional development.

Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 30Ibs.

• Physical demands such as carrying, pushing/pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, walking, climbing and fine finger dexterity.

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field.

• Teaching certification/licensure

• Must have authorization to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship.
