Director of Religious Education and Youth Ministry
Description

Saint Joseph Church is seeking a full-time dynamic Director of Religious Education & Youth Ministry to lead and grow our parish youth faith formation programs. This role will develop
and oversee religious education for the parish while building a thriving youth ministry that fosters lifelong discipleship.

The ideal candidate has a heart for sharing the Gospel, enjoys working with people of all ages, and thrives in a collaborative parish community.

Key Responsibilities

Religious Education (K-8)

  • Plan and manage parish Religious Education programs in collaboration with pastor
    and principal.
  • Coordinate sacramental preparation (First Reconciliation, First Communion, Confirmation).
  • Recruit, train, and support catechists.
  • Update sacramental records.
  • Organize retreats, Vacation Bible School, and special events.

Youth Ministry (Middle School, High School, Young Adults)

  • Plan retreats, mission trips, and faith-building activities.
  • Coordinate participation in Diocesan events.
  • Develop engaging opportunities for spiritual growth, service, and community.
  • Plan fundraising events to support youth activities.

Community Engagement

  • Collaborate with parish and school groups for events and community-building.
  • Manage communication through MyParish App, email, and social media.
  • Participate in planning parish missions, pilgrimages, and speaker events to integrate youth into parish events.
  • Maintain records, reports, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Education, or related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of parish youth ministry experience.
  • Possess or be willing to attain Youth Ministry Certification.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Active Catholic who models a joyful and faithful witness.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic digital communication tools.
  • Completion of Diocesan Safe Environment training.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
Benefits: Diocesan insurance, PTO (10 days/year, increases with tenure).
Occasional evenings, weekends, and travel are required.
Physical ability to participate in youth activities and lift up to 20 lbs.
