Job Summary: The Outreach and Development Coordinator models the ideals of Pope Francis by actively engaging in evangelization, proclaiming God’s love to the East Nashville community. This role fosters and seeks financial support for the parish's ministries and needs, enabling it to serve its members and the community effectively.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Outreach:

1. Cultivates relationships with area agencies/organizations in East Nashville, making them aware of the parish's presence and activities.
2. Reaches out to homebound parishioners every three to four weeks via phone and/or letters to ensure they feel remembered, loved, and prayed for, documenting these interactions for updated parishioner information.
3. Identifies inactive parish members and encourages their participation through phone calls, letters, and electronic means, informing them of the parish's needs and inviting involvement.
4. Invites neighbors of the East Nashville community to worship at Holy Name Catholic Church through mailing campaigns and word-of-mouth efforts.

Development: 5. Plans fundraising activities, under the direction of the Pastor and Finance Board, for specific parish building and grounds maintenance projects.

1. Collaborates with the Parish Council to plan fundraising activities benefiting specific ministries within the parish, aligned with the parish's mission.
2. Assists in recruiting volunteers for fundraising efforts.
3. Writes and sends thank-you acknowledgments to contributors, including those for tax purposes.
4. Maintains spreadsheets tracking fundraising projects, timelines, volunteers, donations, etc.
5. Performs other duties assigned by the Pastor.

Other: Answers the phone and greets visitors in the parish office in the absence of the parish secretary.

Supervisory Requirements: None except for providing direction to adult volunteers.

Education and/or Experience:

1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. College degree in Marketing or Public Relations strongly preferred.
3. Prior experience in fundraising strongly preferred.
4. Knowledge of Catholic social teaching and interest in social ministry and advocacy.
5. Knowledge of the community of East Nashville.

3. Good interpersonal skills.
4. Organizational skills, including time management, delegation, and administration.
5. Self-motivated with a willingness to work under general direction and supervision.
6. Financial acumen for record keeping.
7. Proficiency in computer use, including internet, email, and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Publisher).
8. Willingness to submit to and complete a satisfactory criminal background screening.

Physical Demands: The physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, bending over, reaching, using hands/tools/controls, talking, and hearing. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: The work environment may have moderate noise levels. Holy Name Catholic Church is a smoke-free facility.
