STEM Teacher
Description

This position is responsible for managing, developing, and sustaining the Overbrook School Beyond the Brook Farm including garden areas and outdoor learning environment. The STEM Teacher teaches STEM lessons based on the farm and physical science permeated with the Christian understanding of creation, stewardship, and life in collaboration with teachers to promote integrated activities into the core curriculum.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Teach students STEM science lessons based on farming experiences and physical science
  • Teach students collaboration, effective discussion, and respect while effectively working in a group to solve a problem or answer a question
  • Works directly with school administrators and staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of STEM initiatives and science curriculum.
  • Involve and work with parent and community partners in developing and sustaining the farm and STEM initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, knowledge of and experience with sustainable farming required.
  • An interest and demonstrated ability in teaching grade school students.
  • Experience with inquiry learning and ability to apply science and/or math content knowledge to agricultural projects and physical science.
